01 Dec Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show
With 2016 drawing to a close, it’s time for everyone’s favourite events and holidays to take place; Christmas, New Year’s, and most importantly, the annual Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, which took place in Paris on November 30.
Each year the highly anticipated runway show is watched by up to 500 million people worldwide, and is hailed as the most watched fashion event on the globe. Although we’ve got the best of pics, you’ll be able to watch the show in full from December 8, 8:30pm on channel nine.
The VS fashion show was held for the first time this year in Paris marking the show’s 20th anniversary. Veteran angels and crowd favourites Adriana Lima and Alessandra Ambrosio returned to the stage. Newcomer Bella Hadid made an entrance with sister Gigi who made her debut on the VS catwalk last year in New York with bestie Kendall.
Every show, one special Victoria’s Secret angel is chosen to wear the fantasy bra – the most revered piece in each year’s collection. This year Jasmine Tookes was granted the honour of wearing the ‘Bright Nights Fantasy Bra’, which featured 9000 diamonds and emeralds and is valued at US$3 million.
The Victoria’s Secret Fashion show is almost as much about its musical performances as it is about lingerie, with high profile music acts chosen each year to perform as the angels walk the runway. This year, returning to the show was Bruno Mars and The Weekend accompanied by new time performer to the show, Lady Gaga.
Sadly two VS alumni were noticeably missing from this year’s show, as Candice Swanepoel and Behati Prinsloo, who have each been apart of the Victoria’s Secret Fashion show for the last 13 years, have both recently become mothers. While there is no word from Candice as to whether she will be returning to the show, Behati shared in an Instagram post earlier this week that she will be returning to the Victoria’s Secret runway next year, and wished her fellow angels good luck in Paris.
