Who Run the World …

12 Feb Who Run the World …

Sweethearts season is upon us and for many it’s time to get all loved up and post pics with bae. For others it’s a time to bury the head in the sand and avoid at all costs. Others say it’s a time to love yourself.

Either way, not everything in the month of love is about that special someone. Whether you’re celebrating V-Day or avoiding it, say hello to your new favourite, single-safe, holiday: Galentine’s Day.

A day ahead of Valentine’s, this day is all about appreciating and loving the ladies in your life- whether it’s your mum, sister, besties, a mentor or even work colleagues. They’ve been here through it all with you and they deserve your affection.

Showing the power of pop culture, and the media’s love of an official day, ‘Galentine’s Day’ was created by a character on a cult show ‘Parks and recreation’. In an episode called ‘Galentine’s Day’, character Leslie gathers a group of her closest friends for a waffle brunch.

The character Leslie claims, “Every February 13, my lady friends and I leave our husbands and our boyfriends at home and we just come and kick it, breakfast-style. Ladies celebrating ladies.” And thus, Galentine’s Day was unofficially added to everyone’s calendar.

At HUSH we thought about ways we could impact the lives of not just our close circles of girls but the wider community of women and came up with some partnerships that we think are making an amazing difference to the life of women.
